Thank you so much Georgina!

I look forward to hearing from you.

Feel free to pass my name and contact information on to people having their head tubes replaced in CA, NV, & OR and maybe I can make arrangements to pick up their damaged frames for re-purposing.

I'm so excited that I've started sketching the design already, even though I don't know what materials I'll be getting.

I can't wait to hear from you again,

Andrea

Ugh, saw this thread and discovered two gigantic cracks in my 2007 Symmetry head tube today. I am extremely disappointed, but relieved that Terry is handling this appropriately.

Unfortunately, this means I won't have my bike for my final two races of this season -- one this Saturday, and another on September 13. I spoke with Abbie today and she estimated at least a month until new Symmetry frames came in. Does anyone know if this is an accurate estimate?

Thank you Terry, for posting the information so I could find it here -- rather than when my mouth met the pavement.

Training Wheels, I understand exactly how you feel. Our local bikesmith found my cracked headtube right before "BAK-Biking Across Kansas" in May. I have had to wait all summer and now it looks like fall. I ended up having to purchase a new bike. Who can go without cycling for that long? I appreciate the Terry folks efforts but this has been a very costly affair for me and my family. I have been heartsick and we eat a lot of beans and weanies to counter the cost of the new bike. On the upside, the new bike rides like a dream. So...we wait. Cat

Well, I went to fetch a rental bike for my Olympic tri tomorrow, since my poor little Symmetry is sidelined. I'm not sure if I was more amused or frustrated watching the mechanic try to get a XS Giant OCR2 match the fit of my Terry. He played with the seat, head set, pedals, and stem for over an hour (and I rode that bike on "test rides" through the parking lot in pouring rain over and over) -- to no avail. Even looking at it, the wheels appear foolishly large, and even though they've "matched" the measurements, it still feels like I'm steering a boat. But for lack of other options (other than my mountain bike! ha!), it will have to do. For now.

This has definitely confirmed my love for my Terry bike. To think I almost bought a Giant! Or a Trek! After being assured by salespeople that I'd feel better once I was "fit" on them. Ha! I can say that the moment I got on my Terry -- even though I knew the stem was too short -- I immediately felt better than I'd felt on any other bikes. It was love at first ride!

So I am very impatiently waiting. Not so thrilled I have to wait at least a month. No so thrilled to ride 25 miles on a "stranger." (A stranger with Sora components!) But definitely relieved I'm renting one of those other bikes, not buying one!

Is anyone having any luck receiving recent information for cracked head tubes or when replacement frames will be in? Are there any other forums or websites that I might check? My local bike shop is getting tired of holding my bike waiting for a replacement frame. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

The replacement frames should be shipped from Taiwan in the next two weeks. We'll be sending them out in October. Sorry for the delay -- we're pushing our manufacturer, but these things unfortunately take time...
